ABOUT STRONG BOY

ANDRE CHRISTIE

Andre Christie, the founder of Strong Boy Clothing, originally trained as a carpenter and attended a local guitar-making class at night school. After completing a classical guitar, he enrolled in a full-time course at what was then the London College of Furniture, studying under William Luff and Pat Naismith to become a maker of violins, violas, and cellos.

After a brief period working in London, Andre took his newly acquired skills and applied them to the restoration of several important buildings both in the UK and abroad.

A period of travel in Japan inspired Andre to study calligraphy and ink painting. His overwhelming desire to create has remained constant throughout his life. Strong Boy Clothing is founded on the belief that crafting something beautiful—whether from wood, ink, or fabric—shares the same intent, outcome, and purpose.

OUR LOGO

The Strong Boy logo features an elephant standing on two "strong boys"—a term used in the construction industry to describe props that support buildings during construction and restoration. We believe this symbol perfectly represents our brand.

SIMPLE, PRACTICAL, RELIABLE and STRONG.

MANUFACTURING

Strong Boy Clothing is based in Cheltenham. We design all our products in-house and manufacture them here in the UK.

All our materials are sourced from British suppliers, and we are committed to supporting British manufacturing.

TRADEWIND

We often come across great products through our many contacts within the clothing and trade industries, but we found ourselves with no way to get them to our customers. So, we've created the 'Tradewind' page, where you'll find end-of-line Strong Boy and Strong Girl stock, samples, and returns. We also plan to stock other fantastic brands as we discover them.

We are fully transparent about the origins of every product that passes through our company and are committed to supplying only genuine items that align with our values.

PRODUCT CARE

We pre-wash all organic fabrics to minimise shrinkage. Our Shinto 7 range can be machine-washed at 30°C on a low setting. 100% organic fabric is incredibly tough and can outlast conventional cottons. Please note, dark colours may bleed, so wash accordingly.

Some of our Dry Wax fabrics are machine washable—please refer to the care label to ensure the longevity of your product.

RETURNS AND T&CS

You can return or exchange your Strong Boy item within two weeks. Return postage is at your cost unless you're exchanging, in which case we'll cover it. Items must be returned in 'as new' condition and in their original packaging, which is designed for reuse. We cannot refund worn or washed items.

Please keep proof of postage, as returns remain your responsibility until we receive them.

Branded products terms & conditions

Our branded products, including t-shirts with large logos, are made from organic or fair-trade materials sourced from responsible UK suppliers. We are transparent about the origins of products and materials not made in the UK.

Branded items are not covered by our one-year warranty; standard return conditions apply.

ONE-YEAR WARRANTY

All Strong Boy clothing comes with a one-year warranty covering defects in workmanship, materials, and production. The warranty does not cover damage caused by animals, chemicals, fire, water, mishandling, alterations, improper care, or misuse. It applies only to items purchased through our website or official outlets. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase.
